JAY-Z has only just released his new album ‘4:44’ last week (June 29), and now the LP has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Pictured below is Hov and RIAA Chairman and CEO Cary Sherman with the platinum plaque for the album. “Props to JAY, he’s done it again!” said Sherman on Twitter. “Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career.”
This is JAY’s 13th platinum album plaque, which has resulted in him becoming the biggest hip hop artist ever in terms of certifications, as he now has more platinum plaques than any other artist in RIAA history.
The success of the album comes as no surprise as his last offering Magna Carta Holy Grail was certified platinum on the day of its release in 2013. The album was pre-delivered to a million Samsung customers, and the RIAA changed their rules to allow the album to be certified platinum.
